Buddy List Feb 21

The buddy list.

The Buddy List, also known as the Friends List, is a list of all your buddies, which can be accessed by clicking the smiley face on the Toolbar at the bottom of the screen. The smiley button is the third from the left on the right side of the toolbar. You may have a minimum of zero to a maximum of 5000 buddies.

Features[]

The Buddy List, shows all your buddies in alphabetical order. Note that buddies only appear online if they are on the same server as you. If a penguin is online, regardless of the alphabetical order, they will be at the top of the buddy list. If two or more online buddies are on your server, they will then be sorted by alphabetical order.

Add/Remove Buddy[]

If you want to add a buddy, click on their player card and press the button with the yellow smiley face on it. When a gray-tinted smiley face appears by the newspaper and envelope icon (top left corner of screen), the person has accepted your request (or they sent YOU a request!). To remove a buddy, click on their player card and click the yellow smiley face, which now has a red X over it.

Find[]

If a buddy is online on the same server as you, you can locate their position by clicking the "question mark" button on their player card.

Visit Igloo[]

You can visit your buddy's igloo, via clicking the "home" button on their player card. The advantage of this is that you can visit their igloo while they're offline too.

Users in Room[]

The Users in Room section is another feature on the buddy list. It shows a list of all the penguins in the room you are currently in, including mascots.

Ignore list[]

The Ignore List is the counterpart to the Buddy List. It can be accessed by clicking the "skull" button at the bottom of the page. Penguins who are ignored (via their player card) will appear on the list. You can wish to un-ignore them from here. Ignoring a player also means you will not be able to receive any messages or postcards from them.

Show Requests[]

Show Requests is a feature that was implemented in Club Penguin Rewritten's HTML5 build. It stores a player's current friend requests from other players for them to view later. Up to 100 requests can be stored at one time.

Trivia[]

  • The option of going into a mascot's igloo through their Player Card is disabled.
  • You cannot ignore a buddy.
    • Conversely, you cannot friend a person that you have ignored. You also cannot send them postcards, view their Stamp Book or report them to a moderator.
  • The buddy limit was increased from 200 to 500 on August 22, 2019.
    • Although the limit was 500, players could friend more players than the given limit.
    • Another update was published on September 5, 2019 which replaced the icons next to your buddies with your buddies' avatars. Prior to the update, the buddy list had a yellow happy face emotes next to buddies who were online, while in the Users in Room list, mascots had a laughing face emote.
  • Prior to HTML5, there was an issue where sometimes the Buddy List would appear blank. This was only a visual glitch.
  • There's an unused sprite of a white box and a penguin's head next to it found in the earlier versions of the HTML5 .swf files for the updated list. It's unknown what its purpose would have been.
  • Another update was released on January 21, 2021 which allowed you to add buddies by using the search box. You get an option to allow others to add you by search in Settings.
    • The friend request system was also modified. Instead of single individual prompts for new buddy requests, the popup would now say "You've got new buddy requests", which would redirect the player to their Friend Requests list.
    • The buddy limit was also increased from 500 to 2000.
  • From 2021, Staff members had the ability to change their pop up message when a player tries to search for their location. The message that would appear was "Swiper no swipin".
    • Thorn had his own unique pop up message that said "Thorn says BOO" in late 2018.
  • The buddy limit was increased from 2000 to 5000 on February 18, 2021.
